Commissions to be taken for building a limited number of the LNER B17 Class 3 cylinder 4-6-0 named after famous football teams No's 2848 to 2872.


The B17 class where built between 1926 to 1937 by Chief Engineer Sir Nigel Gresley.

The specification was for a 3 cylinder 4-6-0

Tractive effort 26,000 lbs. sq. in

Grate Area 30 sq. ft

Axle Load 17 Tons

Cylinder Motion arrangement Gresley derived valve gear

The miniature locomotive will be built in both gauges 5" and 7 1/2" and follows the previous full size engines and authentic external detail following full size practice.

Cylinders(3) 1-1/16 X 2-1/4 stroke valve motion Walschaert/Gresley piston valves

Copper boiler fully silver soldered diagram 100/a series. pressure 80 lbs./sq. in.

Tractive effort 85% 2246 lbs.

Driving wheels 7 inches diameter

Length of engine plus tender 68 inches

Height 13 1/2 inches

Width 11 1/2 inches

Total weight approximately 270 lbs.
