Locomotive for sale

Rebuilt Merchant Navy 4-6-2 8P class in 5" gauge live steam locomotive BR No. 35017 Belgian Marine.  The original design was O.V.S Bulleid 1937-49 and the locomotives of this class were numbered 35001-35030.

The above named locomotive was first introduced in 1941 with air smoothed casings - rebuilt 1956 with Walschaert valve gear and modified detail, the air smoothed casing was removed for easy maintenance.

The duty weight of the original locomotives were 97 tons 18cwt
Boiler pressure 250 lbs. sq. in.
3 Cylinder 18 in. X 24 in. stroke
Driving Wheels 6 ft. 2 in.
Tractive effort 33,495 lbs.

The specifications for the 5" gauge miniature of the Merchant Navy BR No. 35017 Belgian Marine are as follows:

Weight Engine - 225 lbs. - Tender - 111 lbs.
Total length Locomotive and tender  6 ft. 6 in.
Wheel base 4-6-2 (known as pacific) - (H) 14-1/2 in. - (W) 11 in.
Copper Boiler Fully silver soldered and tested at 200 P.S.I.
Driving Wheels 6-1/2 in. diameter
Cylinders 1-1/2 in. X 3 in. stroke
Tractive Effort 2946 lbs. Coal fired steam locomotive

The construction phase started on the 1st September 1993, completed by December 1999 making the total construction time to be 11473 hours.
